Upcoming Public Education Program

 

        Bossier Parish Fire District 1 is pleased to announce that we will be conducting a family and community preparedness class

      at our central fire station on Hwy 80 in Haughton on Monday evenings beginning at 7 pm  on April 21st. This program will

      run for 6 weeks and will meet for about 2 hours each evening.

      This program will also be offered in 3 ( 4 hour ) Saturday sessions on April 12th ,April 26th and May 3rd, Classes begin at

       8.30 am.

       The classes will provide participants with valuable home fire prevention and response information as well as basic first aid

       information for common household injuries.

       The class will also discuss neighborhood response to a major disaster, such as a tornado or flood in the event that the fire

         department and EMS response is delayed due to access issues or limited initial resources due to the size of the incident.

        

                                                                             

 

         The class will cover basic disaster response topics such as incident size-up, emergency firefighting, utility control, emergency

         structural stabilization and light victim rescue.

        In addition, the program will cover what to do in the event of a motor vehicle accident, basic water rescue procedures and    

         the handling of backcountry emergencies such as accidental shootings, snakebites and ATV accidents.
